Merchweiler Allenfeldschule
HP.MIND

Object report

The teaching pool at the Allenfeld School in the municipality of Merchweiler is something special. It is the only remaining teaching pool in the district of Neunkirchen and has been in existence since 1960. The pool is used by young and old to learn to swim or for water gymnastics. The pool measures 12.25 m by 7.92 m and is 1.25 m deep. The last renovation was completed in 2005.

Two highly efficient herborner.Xηeo are responsible for water treatment. These circulation pumps from 2018 circulate the bathing water in parallel operation. Both pumps are continuous runners, which means they run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This means that both pumps have already run for more than 34,000 operating hours (as of 04.2023).

Both pumps have already saved approx. 100,000 kWh of energy (as of 04.2023). This is not only due to the herborner.ηeo designed for maximum efficiency. Since October 2020, an HP.MIND has been controlling the pumps there, much to the delight of the person responsible for the baths, Mr Dietrich Maltz. For this purpose, the HP.MIND is connected to the bath control and the water value monitoring of the ProMinent company. The bath control specifies when the pumps are to be switched on and takes over the control of the backwash operation. The water value monitoring system supplies the setpoint for the circulation capacity, which the HP.MIND translates into a pump speed. This means that the pumps only deliver as much as the degree of pollution of the bath water requires. Normally, the pumps run at a minimum speed of 911 rpm.

Only when there are many visitors in the pool, or when the filters are being cleaned, is a higher circulation rate necessary. As a result, the power of each pump is less than 1.5 kW on average and thus well below the design of 3.5 kW. This saves a lot of energy and chemicals and ensures that operating costs are reduced. Only in this way can the teaching pool at the Allenfeld School continue to be something special. Via HP.MIND, the teaching pool is of course fully integrated into HP.INTELLIGENCE. The operating data of the pumps are stored securely in the cloud, so that the energy savings from the efficient control of the HP.MIND are visible. Mr Christian Meiser, the on-site employee of the Merchweiler municipality, regularly uses HP.OBJECT to document the energy consumption of the pumps. This eliminates the need to go to the basement, leaving him more time for other activities. Of course, he can also check at any time whether and how the pumps are currently running and compare this with the past.

At the end of March 2023, a power outage caused a shutdown throughout the Merchweiler community. After the power grid was restored, the HP.MIND booted up normally and restored the connection to the cloud. The bath control system was also able to be put back into operation with the help of the plant contractor. Normal operation of the system was prevented by the frequency converters of the pumps, where parameters had presumably been adjusted due to the power failure. As a result, the filter backwashing could no longer be carried out automatically. In addition, both frequency converters displayed a warning. The plant engineer was unable to solve this problem on site, so Mr Meiser asked the service department of Herborner Pumpen for help. After a short consultation between service and development, the solution was clear. The HP.MIND has a secure connection through which it can be accessed directly from Herborn if necessary. The parameterisation of the frequency inverter was checked and the error was found.

After consultation with Mr Meiser, this error was rectified directly and without complications with the help of HP.MIND. This example shows the enormous potential of HP.INTELLIGENCE for the bathroom operator, which is apparent on a wide variety of levels. It offers the customer a wide range of solutions and makes it easier to operate the system safely and efficiently, as well as to react much more professionally in the event of a malfunction. In the event of questions or faults, it is possible to take a direct look at the system and help. HP.MIND is the key to making the pumps intelligent and networking them. HP.INTELLIGENCE thus solves the tasks of tomorrow.
